UMass Extension Revamps Web Site

A revamped and enhanced UMass Extension website, www.umassextension.org, offers credible, research based information provided by researchers and educators of UMass Extension’s four programs; Agriculture and Landscape, Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, Nutrition Education and Massachusetts 4-H Youth Development.

Highlighted on the site are stories about Extension programs, news and events, and a description of the public issues addressed by Extension. In addition, a broad information section covers topics from 4-H club activities, Massachusetts wildlife to home gardening and food safety, with downloadable publications and links to additional resources, services and publications for purchase through the Extension Bookstore.

UMass Extension’s site also connects users to a larger world of information by linking to the national Cooperative Extension information site, www.eXtension.org.  National experts provide answers to common questions on diverse topics such as parenting, personal finance, home gardening and landscaping, caring for horses, and wildlife damage control.

UMass Extension continues to provide a wealth of information to the citizens of the Commonwealth related to our mission “to improve the health, well-being and security of youth, families and communities; to conserve and enhance natural resources; and to strengthen agriculture and food systems.”  The revised www.umassextension.org website is one avenue for achieving this goal.

UMass Extension is a program of UMass Amherst Outreach, which works with the academic schools, colleges and departments of the University of Massachusetts Amherst to apply university teaching and research to benefit communities throughout the Commonwealth and the nation.
